Students at Caithness and Sutherland Schools are offered an e-learning week to celebrate wildlife and biodiversity.
Using Google Classroom, e-learning will run from September 27 to October 1, with each day covering a different topic.
Fiona MacLean, High Life Highland Campaign Ranger north of Lochaber, said: âThe goal of the week is to engage students with the amazing living things in their school and surrounding areas.
âWe will be offering videos, challenges and learning materials in our new Google classroom, and teachers will be able to deliver the activities to their own classes, in person or through distance learning.
âWe hope that going live will allow us to work with more Highland children and help teachers offer outdoor and environmental activities.
âWe are also promoting the new Highland Biodiversity Action Plan, in which we are partners. The plan highlights what makes the Highlands special in terms of biodiversity and, most importantly, what can be done to help preserve and enhance our natural world. We think it’s worth shouting.
The activities are aimed at pupils of P7 and S1, but most of the materials will also be of interest to pupils of other levels.
The week will be interactive and schools are encouraged to share what they have learned, created or discovered on social media using the hashtag #HighlifeWildife
Every day a new topic will be launched on the page, but they will stay in place throughout the year:
