The rapid increase in COVID-19 cases, especially those with the Omicron variant, has forced several Kingston-area schools to switch from classroom learning to online learning.

The Limestone District School Board informed parents of the change via Twitter on Monday.

The following schools are closed until further notice due to understaffing caused by various epidemics:

  • Acadia Module
  • Amherstview Public School
  • Storrington Public School
  • Southview Public School
  • Public bath school
  • Polson Park Public School
  • Odessa Public School
  • Molly Brant Public School

The loyalist regional and professional institute has seen five of its classrooms affected by positive cases of COVID-19.

In addition to the closure of these schools, the school board also announced that games and practices associated with the Kingston Area Secondary School Athletics Association (KASSAA) are being canceled due to the number of outbreaks.
