Ponsse and Lapland Education Center launch simulation learning environment in Rovaniemi, Finland

Ponsse and Lapland Education Center REDU launched an advanced simulation-based learning environment in Rovaniemi, Finland. It also involves the biggest simulator contract in Ponsse history.

The simulation learning environment was created through the collaboration between Ponsse and REDU, with Ponsse providing a total of nine PONSSE simulators. One of the simulators is a “Basic” model simulator, three are “Full” model simulators and five are new “Multi” simulators. The Training Center is now equipped with a total of 11 PONSSE simulators. Students use the equipment at different stages of their learning journey, from basic studies to more advanced work.

“The new equipment allows more students to be trained at the same time. Simulator training effectively supports forestry machine training and provides a good working foundation before students start using a real machine, ”says Ilkka Rantahalvari, lecturer at the Lapland Education Center REDU.

Ponsse’s simulators are equipped with a new virtual world that takes studying with simulators to a whole new level. In addition to the virtual world, new features include a diagnostic tool for training maintenance personnel and head tracking technology for those who cannot use the virtual reality (VR) function.

Lapland Education Center REDU has an ongoing MESOT investment project for forest machine simulation, learning and development of research environments. The aim of the project is to strengthen forestry machine training in Lapland using learning environments and various learning methods.

Ponsse Plc is a company specializing in the sale, manufacture, maintenance and technology of forestry machines by cut-to-length method.
