Delhi government asks private schools to keep online education and learning activities suspended during summer vacation

All online and semi-online teaching and learning activities will remain suspended during the summer vacation from April 20 to June 9, the Delhi government ordered private schools on Wednesday.

The Department of Education (DoE) had brought the summer vacation forward on Monday in view of the deterioration of the Covid-19 situation. The holidays, which were scheduled from May 11 to June 3, are now postponed from April 20 to June 9.

“It has been brought to the attention of this management that despite the summer break which has been brought forward due to the increase in Covid 10 cases, the regular e-learning method continues to be adopted from a one way or another by some private schools, “Education Directorate (DoE) said in an official order.

The DoE then ordered all private schools that all “online and semi-online teaching and learning activities remain suspended during the aforementioned summer vacation period in accordance with public schools.”

“However, schools can organize specific activities related to holidays, remedial lessons for a specific set of students and other activities for creativity, happiness and general social and emotional well-being in order to enrich the overall growth of students without physically calling them to school, ”he added. .

Schools in the nation’s capital were closed in March last year before a nationwide lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus. The government then ordered the reopening of schools for grades 9 to 12 with parental consent. However, with the upsurge in Covid-19 cases, schools have again been closed.
